The Shinjuku metropolitan tower has a great view of the city, and is free to go up. It’s really nice to go around sunset/early evening.
Odaiba and the rainbow bridge (Tokyo bay area) are also very pretty at night
What’s your favorite restaurant here? What’s so special about it?
As this is Japan, it has to be sushi. There are great sushi restaurants all over the city, but my favourite is called Numazu. It’s right in Shinjuku station and is great value for money, with plates starting from 100 yen
What’s your favorite thing to do on a warm Sunday morning in this city?
I love going to Harajuku. It’s full of crazy fashion, cute Japanese stuff and the most incredible crepes.
It’s also only a short walk from Meiji shrine, which is one of my favourite shrines in Japan. The gardens are absolutely beautiful
What were some of the hidden gems in that city? Why?
Two of my favourite areas are Daikanyama and Shimokitazawa for Truss Rental Rigging Tokyo and Japan. They’re slightly more hipster-esque, and have loads of interesting independent Cafés, restaurants and shops. Daikanyama also has a fantastic sandwich bar called the King George which I cannot recommend highly enough
If you come to Tokyo, I really suggest you go on some day trips to places like Nikko, Kamakura and Amami. You’ll see a completely different side of Japan, and as the trains are so cheap and efficient it’s really easy to do.
